Brigham Young University Museum of Art
The Museum of Art is a three-story landmark crafted from red granite and glass. Its distinctive octagonal design is highlighted by a domed skylight above the atrium and an L-shaped skylight over the third-floor galleries. Home to over 14,000 works of art, the museum features more than a dozen climate-controlled galleries, ranging from 700 to 5,000 square feet in size and 14 to 23 feet in height.
These galleries showcase BYU’s renowned collections, including Asian artifacts, Rembrandt etchings, and early musical instruments. Additional amenities include a conservation laboratory, cataloging and record-keeping areas, a photography lab, exhibition design and staging spaces, a library, a gift shop, and a restaurant. The museum meets all American Association of Museums standards and offers an integrated education center with an electronic classroom, a digital retrieval system, and a dedicated children’s activity area. Constructed with composite concrete and steel, the building is reinforced with concrete shear walls for enhanced stability.
